According to Hayley Alaxanian, the owner of Leo, the toy was very special to him.

Luckily, Alaxanian’s father intervened when he noticed the toy being mishandled. The father took the toy away from the culprit and kept it out of reach. However, the offender was not pleased and attempted to grab it while crying. At this point, Alaxanian’s father decided to use his sewing skills to fix the damaged toy.
