On 29 August 2012, Real Madrid claimed their ninth Spanish Super Cup, as the Whites, who were playing as LaLiga champions, took on Barcelona. The first leg was played on 23 August at the Camp Nou, where Barça emerged victorious by the narrowest of margins (3-2). Six days later, the Madridistas turned the tie on its head at the Santiago Bernabéu and clinched the trophy on away goals (2-1).
