With the help of her faithful Great Dane, a young girl achieved a remarkable milestone after nine years of struggle.

Bella Burton, an 11-year-old resident of WoƄurn, Massachusetts, was born with Morquio Syndrome, a rare genetic condition that stunts bone growth and limits movement. Despite enduring over ten surgeries and countless physical therapies, Bella found it difficult to walk without crutches or a wheelchair.

Enter George, a 130-pound Great Dane service dog from the Service Dog Project in Ipswich, Massachusetts. Trained to assist individuals with severe balance and mobility challenges, George became Bella’s constant companion, transforming her life.

Standing at the same height as Bella but weighing three times as much, George’s presence changed everything. The Service Dog Project has provided nearly 100 Great Danes to people facing various mobility issues, significantly enhancing their quality of life.

From children to military veterans and those with conditions like multiple sclerosis, each dog is meticulously trained to meet the specific needs of their owner. For Bella, George’s impact surpassed any other therapy she had received in the past year.
