Stray dogs fighting to survive on the streets are very difficult to see. Dogs are lost without someone to love them.

Some find a pack of other dogs to run with and have some chance of surviving, but it’s still not easy.

In the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, there is a problem with stray dogs. All cities have stray dogs but in this city there are an especially high number.

‘I cried’

Two days before Christmas 2017, animal lover Pia was told about a dog that was simply running in circles.

When she found him, he was skin and bones and lay on the ground, hairless and dull in his eyes.

“I cried because I couldn’t believe no one had helped him,” Pia said, according to The Dodo.

""""

Pia took him to the vet but thought he wouldn’t survive the night.

The vet told Pía to wait a couple of days and see how she was doing. He needed care 24 hours a day.

Fighting for your life

It would be a difficult journey for both of us. For the next two days he couldn’t eat and lost even more weight.

He couldn’t walk because he had lost the muscles in his legs. Pia was worried, but she stayed with him. He fought for his life and did not give up. Pía called him Hercules.

""""

She thought all hope was lost…

""""

But then he started eating and struggled with all his might to stand up. I wanted to live.

He began to fight, like a true Herculean and found the strength to continue forward. In the end he got up on his own!

It was after this that things really started to change for the better. The shine returned to his eyes, he grew stronger and his fur grew back.

This is Hercules today! Hardly recognizable due to the state it was in when Pia found it. But with love and devotion, he came back to life.

""""

Thanks to a loving mother, he has gotten his life back.

""""

Pia says that Hercules is a very sweet dog, as if she were thanking him.

""""

When he was ready to be adopted, Pia just couldn’t bring herself to give him up, she had to keep him.

""""

What a wonderful story, it brought tears to my eyes!

""""

SHARE this story to pay tribute to this angel and animal hero, Pia! Thanks for being the way you are!
