As amazing as it is, the horse world has also a dark side and It is really sad to say that we humans are the ones who have created this dark side. As you can see, horses can be profitable in so many ways and a lot of people out there are benefiting from this fact. But what happens when they are no longer profitable?
They get left abandoned with an uncertain future in front of them. Very frequently, they go through a selection process at a very young age. As much as it hurts, this is the reality. Now let’s focus on our story which falls under this category.
A herd of 30 Shetland ponies was left abandoned after they were no longer needed by their previous owner. They were bred for profit but since their former owner thought he could not make a profit, he was going to abandon them.
Fortunately, Hillside Animal Sanctuary was just in time to rescue these amazing Shetland ponies and offer them a bright future. There were 28 mares, all of them being pregnant and 2 stallions. If you already think that this is a huge family then think about how huge is it going to be after the mares give birth.
