The following is a heart-wrenching tale of a sweet little Chihuahua puppy named Daffodil, who was left abandoned on a busy street in San Francisco and discovered at the bottom of a wet cardboard box. This tiny pup was unlike any other as she was unfortunately born without her front paws. Despite several individuals walking by and witnessing her pitiful state, not one person stopped to lend a helping hand. Shockingly, Daffodil’s rescuer witnessed someone pick up the helpless puppy from the box only to return her once they had seen her deformity.
Fortunately, a compassionate young man came across Daffodil’s predicament and immediately took her to the local animal welfare organization. At first, the workers were unsure whether Daffodil would make it. However, after receiving love and attention for a few days, the pup transformed into a lively and affectionate canine! Unaware of her disability, all Daffodil wanted was to be showered with affection by her caretakers! The workers were moved by Daffodil’s spirited personality and decided to look beyond her physical deformities, giving her a fair chance at a happy life. They even created a custom-fitted wheelchair for her by using a special cast to take her measurements.
Daffodil had a memorable experience during her first ride in her small wheelchair, even though she stumbled and fell at times. However, she picked herself up and proved to be a champion. Olivia, one of Daffodil’s caretakers, has come forward to adopt the spunky girl and become her forever mom – according to an update from the SPCA. Daffodil is now enjoying her life as her mommy’s little princess! Over time, she has become more accustomed to her wheelchair and can even run around with it now. Olivia Kong, a case manager at OrthoPets – a veterinary prosthetic provider – explained that she had to work hard to train Daffodil to turn both left and right, but now she has progressed significantly. The pup can now go over obstacles independently, rather than just doing what she’s told during training exercises.
Daffodil’s friends in San Francisco have been closely following her progress through social media, along with many other fans of the growing pup. With four sets of wheels under her belt, all customized and adjusted by Kong and her team at OrthoPets, Daffodil is happy and thriving. She has even found an amazing forever home with a volunteer from ⓈⓅⒸⒶ who couldn’t resist her charm.
