LeBron James, one of the most prominent basketball players, does not have a holiday specifically named after him. However, he is celebrated and recognized for his achievements in the sport, and his fans may observe certain days as special occasions to honor his contributions to basketball.
After tearing down the $36.8 million mansion he bought in September 2020, LeBron James has finally started building the home of his dreams in Beverly Hills.
After fighting in court for two years, the NBA legend finally has permission to start working on the piece of land. Builders are rushing to the site this week to get the long-delayed project back on track.
DailyMail.com has exclusive photos that show how big the building is. Mounds of dirt are in the place of the mansion where Katharine Hepburn lived when she was at the top of her game.
In the 1930s, Hollywood actor Charles Boyer owned the property. Eventually, it was bought by Howard Hughes, who rented it to Hepburn.
After Hepburn moved out, the house was owned by regular people for a long time. In 1986, The Young and the Restless creators William Brent Bell and Lee Phillip Bell bought it for $2.9 million.
After tearing down a mansion he bought for $36.8 million three years ago, LeBron James has started building his new dream home.
This week, the builders came to start working on the huge piece of land where there used to be a beautiful mansion.
As he builds a new home in Los Angeles, the NBA star seems to be sending a message that he wants to stay there for a long time.
Another view of the property shows how big the project is and how many builders are already at work on it.
LeBron bought the property in September 2020, but it looks like he had very different plans for the famous house. He got permission right away to tear it down, just a few years before it turned 100.
The land had several buildings on a huge 2.5-acre plot. James will now build his dream home there, showing that he plans to stay in Los Angeles after his playing career is over.
The property is also protected by one of Los Angeles’s biggest driveway gates.
The NBA legend is thinking about what to do next after the Denver Nuggets eliminated the Los Angeles Lakers from the playoffs in May.
James hinted to reporters right after the game that he might retire at the age of 38. He said, “I’ve got a lot to think about.” Just on a personal level, as I move forward in basketball, I have a lot to think about.’
Before it was demolished, the land was home to a huge mansion, in which Hollywood legend Audrey Hepburn used to live
The first house was built in the 1930s, and Hollywood actor Charles Boyer was the first person to live in it.
The old house also had a theatre room with a big screen and seven fireplaces all over the huge property.
After Hepburn moved out, the house was owned by regular people for a long time. In 1986, it was sold for $2.9 million.
There were also a lot of places to eat and hang out outside, as well as a tennis court with a viewing pavilion.
James has said in public that he wants to own an NBA expansion team in Las Vegas when he stops playing basketball for good.
Last year, he played a preseason game in Sin City. After the game, he said, “It’s great.” It has the best fans in the world, and I would love to bring a team here at some point. That would be pretty cool.
“I know Adam Silver is in Abu Dhabi with the Bucks and Atlanta right now, but he probably sees every interview and transcript from NBA players, so I want the team here, Adam. Thank you.”
On the court, James has been in Los Angeles for five seasons – and clearly sees his long-term future in the California city
This year, James’s son Bronny, who is also a rising basketball star, will go to the University of Southern California.
But even if that plan doesn’t work out, James has made a big commitment to the city of Los Angeles by buying the land and planning to build his perfect home in Beverly Hills.
In the next few years, it’s likely that his son Bronny and maybe even his other son Bryce will join him on the NBA court as they move up the ranks.
Bronny just signed with the University of Southern California, which will keep him close to his dad’s new mansion, which is still being built.
USC is less than 30 minutes and 10 miles from LeBron’s home in Beverly Hills. This is another reason why LeBron might want to stay in the area for the foreseeable future.
