Pep Guardiola is considering a surprise deal for Paul Pogba from rivals Man Utd. Will Pogba go to Man City, if he becomes a free agent this summer?
The French World Cup winner is ready to leave Man Utd at the end of this month after six disappointing years. Paris Saint Germain and Juventus remain the most likely destinations for the 29-year-old, but Sunsport reported on Friday that City are looking for a new central midfielder following the departure of club captain Fernandinho.
And they are considering monitoring Pogba’s situation in the coming weeks. If Pogba comes to City he will play alongside Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, who is expected to move to the Etihad this summer. Man City once entered the race to sign Pogba from Juventus in 2016, but withdrew due to financial problems related to this deal.
When Pogba injured his calf against Liverpool last month, caretaker manager Ralf Rangnick suggested he might have played his last game for the club. But Pogba later posted on social media that it was “not over”. Man City will not be able to officially finalize the transfer until he becomes a free agent on July.
